Debby Carreau, President at Inspired HR, will share tales from climbing the corporate ladder including the requisite bumps and scrapes along the way. By sharing real life examples, she will suggest some solutions for the mistakes that we women make in making our way in the work world. She will discuss our society as it relates to the interpretation of strong men and strong women; we are not so sure that we like strong, passionate, and successful women as leaders. Through a leadership shift, everyone will benefit through enhancing women’s role in the workplace. Only in a society where we have changed the culture from the top of our own organizations will the other efforts to gain equal access and opportunity meet success.

NOMINATIONS FOR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE POSITIONS

FOR PERIOD OF JULY 1, 2012 – JUNE 30, 2014

This is to serve the members of the Business & Professional Women’s Club of Calgary with notice that nominations for the following Executive Committee positions are now open. These positions include:

President

1^st Vice President

VP, Membership

VP, Communications

Treasurer

Secretary

Position descriptions are available here, which outline key roles and responsibilities. Please note that the terms for these positions are for two (2) years (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2014).

If you are interested in being nominated for any of these positions, or if you would like to nominate another member (with their consent), please notify Lia Robinson, President by April 11, 2012.

Please include a brief bio of your professional and volunteer experience so that it can be included in the slate of nominations which will be distributed to the Club’s members by April 18, 2012.

Annually, ElleGolf averages 300+ members and works with 20+ golf courses in and around Calgary. Lori is now celebrating her 16th season with ElleGolf!

With over 15 years of experience and writing more than 500 financial plans during her career, Jennifer will discuss how waiting endlessly and in vain for Godot, an absent character to arrive, can really be.

It’s time to celebrate our achievements as we continue to work to improve conditions for all women. We have had a busy year with exceptional monthly speakers covering a diverse range of topics of particular interest to the business and professional women of today.

This month’s speaker is no different. Melanie Leonard, a conducter at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, will share her inspiring story. Melanie was propelled to follow her passion for music, and was undeterred by the challenges before her.
