It’s time to celebrate our achievements as we continue to work to improve conditions for all women. We have had a busy year with exceptional monthly speakers covering a diverse range of topics of particular interest to the business and professional women of today.

This month’s speaker is no different. Melanie Leonard, a conducter at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, will share her inspiring story. Melanie was propelled to follow her passion for music, and was undeterred by the challenges before her.

We will share resolutions and nominations for the upcoming year. Members are encouraged to bring forth subjects that fall within the club’s mandate, aims and objectives.

The nominations committee will be appointed and members will be notified of nominations for officers to be elected to the board of directors. Nominations may be called from the floor as appropriate. Members will also have an opportunity to communicate their intent to serve on various committes.

Join us on September 8 for an in-depth discussion of women in politics, led by political and public affairs commentator Joan Crockatt and Calgary mayoral candidate Barb Higgins.

Barb Higgins will be speaking about her experiences as the only female candidate in Calgary’s mayoral race.

Joan Crockatt, president of Crockatt Communications, will discuss the under-representation of women in politics, explain the challenges that keep women out of the political mainstream and how they can break through this plexi-glass ceiling.
