Women make up 52% of Canada’s population, yet we represent roughly 20% of elected politicians on municipal, provincial and federal levels. In Calgary, we have only two female City of Calgary counsellors. Ask Her is trying to change that.
On October 12, we’ll welcome Ask Her to speak to BPW Calgary members and guests about how they are committed to increasing the number of women running for Calgary City Council. We’ll also hear from Sandra Jansen, MLA for Calgary-North West regarding her experience in politics.
This is a great non-partisan platform to explore female representation locally and nationally, and to find out how we can better support women in their political pursuits.
The evening kicks off at 5:30, so plan to arrive then to network with like-minded women from diverse industries! BPW is excited to continue supporting Servants Anonymous, our community partner, by meeting at Venu1008.
Ask Her, a Calgary organization, is committed to increasing the number of women running for Calgary City Council in the 2017 election by asking 20 women to run. They are also committed to supporting female candidates and volunteers with funding and capacity building.
Ask Her was one of the 100 Women’s Organizations recognized by BPW Canada to mark 100 years of Women’s Suffrage at the BPW Canada Centennial Gala & Awards Night.
