BPW Calgary will be kicking off the new club year with the theme “Women & Politics”. This dinner is also our annual general meeting where we review our strategic plan for 2012-2013.
Last year, politics in Alberta definitely took a turn. In its 107 year old saga, Alberta had never elected a female premier. Albertans are ready to see change in how government operates and they know that this will require true leadership. Taking the time to improve relationships and telling the Alberta story has become imperative.
On September 12th 2012 at 5:30 p.m., BPW Calgary members will unite over dinner to network with prominent women leaders and role models in our communities.
Dr. Lisa Young, Dean and Vice Provost of Graduate Studies at the University of Calgary, will share her research findings on women’s participation in political life. Dr. Young is an accomplished scholar in the area of Canadian politics, with a particular research focus on political parties, election finances and women’s participation in political life.
Graduates of the mentorship program will be awarded their certificates during dinner and the application deadline for new applicants is October 10th. Please visit our mentorship page to access the forms and information for this program which was nominated for the Best Practices Award at The Institute of Canadian Citizenship.
Sept 6 update: Unfortunately Donna Kennedy-Glans will be unable to attend the meeting due to a scheduling conflict. We hope to have her join us later in the year.
