“Pathways to Prosperity” with Keynote Speaker Melissa Luhtanen, Senior Legal Counsel, Alberta Human Rights Commission
On June 28 at 6 pm: Join us for an evening full of inspiration, networking, a silent auction, and more as we play a role in upholding human rights in Alberta! All proceeds will go towards BPW Calgary’s Scholarship Program.
Over the last 20 years, BPW Calgary has been making a profound difference in the lives of students at Bow Valley College. Each year, we invest in three to four scholarships to empower women with children who excel in their studies while leading their own households to gain access to post-secondary education.
BPW Calgary’s investment brings to life our values and commitment to our two core programs – scholarship and mentorship! We believe these are important pathways to prosperity. To respond to the global pandemic, BPW Calgary restructured its Mentorship program to meet the needs of working women. Come out and participate in the #AB50for50 human rights campaign during the Commission’s 50th Anniversary year and meet our scholarship recipients and mentorship graduates while bidding on silent auction items so that together we may break the cycle of generational poverty, close the education and workforce skills gap, and empower students and their families to succeed.
Tickets are required for reserved seating with our group. RSVP by June 25 (now extended to June 26). After this date, reserved seating space will not be guaranteed and the restaurant will seat you based on availability. You will still be able to access the silent auction space for bidding.
Virtual Business Meeting: May 24
This will be a Members-Only event so that we may focus on our members’ needs in the next club year. This meeting was previously scheduled for May 10 as notified by the March club newsletter. It will now take place on May 24 virtually. The nominations deadline was extended and the list of nominee(s) along with the new meeting date was forwarded to members by the Nominations Chairperson on May 11. Please rsvp by email to communications@bpwcalgary.com to receive your link to join the meeting virtually.

BPW Calgary’s E-Waste Fundraiser
Our E-Waste fundraiser is well underway to collect used and unwanted laptops and tablets. This initiative is aligned with the CSW67 theme of “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age”. Collection will take place at BPW Calgary in-person events until the end of the club year in June. The devices will be dropped off to the Electronic Recycling Association where data will be removed safely and securely. These devices will then be refurbished and donated to local students and seniors in need.
