Each spring, BPW Calgary hosts a business clothing drive to collect gently used business clothing for The Making Changes Association. Our Mentorship Program participants also spend an afternoon at The Making Changes Association, acting as fashion consultants and helping out with quality control on site.

BPW Calgary’s October dinner will be held October 14th from 5:30 – 8 PM. Our keynote speaker is Judy-Lynn Archer, President and CEO at Women Building Futures, a charitable organization dedicated to empowering women to succeed in non-traditional careers, inspiring positive economic change for women and forever transforming the face of industry in Canada. Members are encouraged to bring their daughters, nieces and other young women to October’s dinner as we also celebrate International Day of the Girl on October 11.

Bow Valley College will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a block party on Saturday, September 19. Since 2003, BPW Calgary has invested $23,670 to make a profound difference in the lives of students at Bow Valley College. We are proud of our partnership with Bow Valley College and wish them another 50 years of success!

BPW Calgary’s September dinner is dedicated to celebrating women and politics, and will also be the annual general meeting where our strategic plan for the 2015/2016 will be presented. It will be hosted on September 9th beginning at 5:30 PM.
As the federal race shapes up to be the most exciting Canada has seen, voter commitment on Election Day remains up in the air. It takes deliberate strategies and actions to advance women’s participation in politics.
Melanee Thomas, Assistant Professor with the Department of Political Science at the University of Calgary, will be joining us the evening of September 9 to discuss women and politics. Melanee joined the University of Calgary in 2012. Prior to this, she was the Skelton-Clark Post-Doctoral Fellow in Canadian Affairs in the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University. Her research focuses on the causes and consequences of gender-based political inequality in Canada and other post-industrial democracies, with a particular focus on political attitudes and behaviour, and policy feedback.
