International Women’s Day March in New York City

IWD March in NYC 2 The Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women and its supporters participated in the march for gender equality in New York City on March 8th, 2015 to advance the issue of Equal Pay.  Immediate Past President of BPW Calgary Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla was interviewed by CBC radio correspondent, Steven D’Souza, just prior to the march where she reiterated that “it is important that wages become an acceptable subject of discussion in Canadian workplaces”.  rsz_1img_1284

BPW Calgary participates in Women’s Policy Workshop hosted by the Liberal Party in Edmonton

Edmonton Workshop Women's Policy Development

BPW Canada’s First Vice President, Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla and Alberta Liaison and 2016 Convention Chairperson, Dawn Nason attended the Women’s Policy Development Workshop that focused on Leadership, Economy and Security.  The issue of Equal Pay was shared passionately with women in Edmonton at the Manor Bistro.  “It is time to move from discussions to evaluating our existing policies”.

BPW Calgary and Honourable Teresa Woo-Paw discuss the “Work that Remains” while acknowledging women’s progress

TWP SBY JGAHonourable Teresa Woo-Paw attended the 2015 Candle-lighting ceremony just weeks before International Women’s Day to celebrate Women’s achievements and progress.  During her keynote delivery, she stressed the importance of the work that still remains, including Equal Pay.  “The Government of Alberta recognizes the contributions of women in the workforce” she reiterated to BPW Canada First Vice President Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla and BPW Calgary’s President Sophie Blais-Yalbir .  Read Premier Jim Prentice’s Candle lighting message here Premier’s Message 2015 candle lighting ceremony
