Last year when Calgary was designated as the Cultural Capital of Canada, BPW Calgary seized the opportunity to become a cultural ambassador.

On December 11, we continue to dream big and honour a special guest speaker, Ania Basak, Founder of Fashion Calgary, who has embarked on a journey to continue to recognize the richness of our city’s cultural resources.

Adopt-a-Family

As we bring 2013 to a close, we will also be fulfilling the wishes of our special families through the “Adopt-a-Family” program.

Member Business Card Swap

We are organizing an optional business card swap at the December dinner to help make it easier for members to connect with one another and learn about each others’ businesses and industries.

To participate in this activity, you will need to bring 30-40 of your business cards with you.  A card folder will be made available for purchase at $10 or you may bring your own.

On November 13, BPW Calgary will observe the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women to raise public awareness of one of the most widespread human rights abuses in all countries.

Dinner Speaker and Blanket Drive

Suzanne Shust, Manager of Shelter Services at YWCA, of Calgary will share firsthand how local agencies are assisting woman who are exploited, made vulnerable and feel marginalized in our city.

We will be collecting new blankets for HUGS (Hope Uplifts Giving Strength) to make a difference in the lives of women and children who need to feel warmth,comfort, and security, while they go through a difficult time and strive to lead lives free of violence and abuse.

On October 9, BPW Calgary will be marking the World’s Second International Day of the Girl with keynote speaker Alison Springer, Founder of Young Women of Power.  Learn more about YWOP at http://www.ywop.ca/about-ywop/.

BPW Calgary is pleased to announce that Janice Ashcroft, Senior Legal Counsel from the Alberta Human Rights Commission, will be the keynote speaker as we ring in the new club year.
